Looking for Volunteers
We are looking for student / worker volunteers!
University students are taking an important role in our activities. In addition to responding to inquiries that we receive from foreign workers, we are also working on outreach such as distributing flyers to encourage them to contact us and conduct surveys on the street in order to approach those foreign workers who cannot reach out due to extremely difficult situations.
Furthermore, based on the results of these surveys, we publish reports, hold press conferences, and demand the government for improvement.
Join us to improve the environment surrounding foreign workers in Japan!
What is POSSE Support Center for Foreign Workers?
In April 2019, NPO POSSE, the labor non-profit organization, launched the Support Center for Foreign Workers in order to address an increasing number of inquiries from foreign workers seeking support for work-related issues. Students and workers in their 20s and 30s are playing a central role at POSSE.
We accept labor consultations from foreign workers and provide advice on solutions. We are also engaged in outreach activities such as holding street demonstrations and distributing flyers on the street in order to encourage foreign workers to contact us.
We also hold study sessions to understand in a more structural manner work-related problems that foreign workers experience.
In the past, we supported an international student who was almost expelled from her Japanese language school and forcefully returned to her country (see here for details), a Filipino worker whose passport was taken up by their employer (see here for details), and an international student who was unlawfully imposed fines and forced to buy products at a convenience store where they worked.
